Alanis is in her late fifties. She has been suffering from vaginal pain for about 13 years. She remembers getting a rash in the vaginal area years ago, which soon was accompanied by symptoms similar to that of a mild urinary tract infection. After doing some research online, she thought she might have interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome) and scheduled an appointment with a urologist. Her urologist treated her symptoms, but despite finding some relief, she continued to have vaginal pain. Specifically, if she tried to have sex with her husband, it hurt. And, sometimes she just hurt for no reason.
Over the years, Alanis has tried a number of different methods to try to eliminate her pain. And, she will continue to do so until she stumbles upon her cure. She is currently finding some relief from a vaginal suppository that contains Neurontin (gabapentin) in a lidocaine base.
Alanis is happily married. She and her husband have not had sex for 13 years.
